Backlinks are links on one site leading to another site. The better the site the links are placed on, or the higher ranking it has, the better quality it is, the more it can help the site it is backlinking to.
Okay, so how do I get quality backlinks to my site? There are many ways to do this, such as submitting articles on sites such as ezinearticles, posting on forums, and submitting your site to internet directories. You can also post on social bookmarking sites such as YahooBuzz, Technorati and Propeller, just to name a few. You can find large listings of them by doing a general search for web 2.0 sites.
With the huge abundance of 2.0 sites these days, this is another great place to get backlinks. These are social networking sites where you can network, leave comments, write blogs, etc. Be sure to include your link back to your website in anything you post.
The search engines you are hoping to rank well on can also be a great new places to submit your site. Simply search for your keywords plus the phrases “add url” “add site” “submit url” “submit site” “add link” “submit link” “suggest url” “suggest site” or “suggest link”, and you should be presented with a list of locations that accept submissions related to your topic.
Check to see where your competitors are submitting. Do a search for them and see what sites they’re submitting on and see if you can submit your site there as well.
Link exchanges can be more hassle than they’re worth. Unless your submitting to a relative-content site, you’re really gaining nothing. Exchanging links with a site that is relative in content to your own site is more worth your while.
NOTE: Your link must be a CLICKABLE link to count as a backlink.
