Just what is Affiliate Marketing?
Simply put it’s selling other peoples products for a commission. Product owners pay a commission on the sale of their products whether it’s physical goods or online digital goods. They can be membership or subscription based products.
Being an Affiliate means the product owner is paying you to send them customers. When a customer you send them buys their product you earn part of the sale. Sometimes up to a whopping 75% of what the product sells for. Other membership and subscription products can pay you a percentage of the recurring fee every month. This is called residual income and one of my favorite things to promote.
The trick to being a successful Affiliate Marketer is mainly the ability to send quality traffic to the product you are promoting. There are very many ways to do this and this is where most people fail at.
• PPC The easiest way to get traffic (paying customers) to the product you are trying to sell is
• Putting banners and links on your own website that has a steady traffic flow. This is technical and time-consuming but over all a very good investment.
• Article Marketing. Sometimes called “Bum Marketing” because it is free traffic, but takes a lot of effort and time to see results.
• Social Networking. Some consider a new form of marketing but in fact it is one of the oldest. Basically who you know (or who knows you) can pay off!
There are hundreds of thousands of products out there to promote and with a little practice and patience can put extra dollars in your pocket. Most big name websites and big name product based websites like Walmart.com, Target.com, and Macys.com all have affiliate programs and most are easy to sign up for. Just look for the word “Affiliates” usually in the links at the bottom of the websites main page.
There are a few websites and companies with thousands of digital products you can promote. The most well-known is http://www.clickbank.com which has paid out over a billion dollars in commissions on time every time over the years.
