Turn On Your Search Engines – SEO Strategies

The three main components of search engines are…

Spider

Also known as a crawler, or robot (bot), the spider is a program that automatically searches the Internet to find sites that would be of interest to visitors. It collects information about the webpage, such as the URL, page title, keywords, and even meta-tags. For those unaware, meta-tags are typically used by website designers to provide additional keywords (HTML) that describes the content of a particular webpage for SEO purposes.

Index

Once the information is collected, it’s stored in the search engine’s index, or database. In essence, the index will determine if the information already exist. If not, it’ll store it. If the information is already available, it’ll compare the stored information versus the new information to decide whether or not to update its database. With the use of indexes, people could conduct fast searches against a vast amount of stored information on the Web.

Search Utility

The last major component is the search utility. By taking the search terms of visitors and comparing entries to sites that match those criteria’s, this program will list a variety of URLs that visitors could easily select from.

The goal is to use effective SEO strategies to get your site(s) listed on the first page of top search engines, such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo in an effort to increase traffic to your site(s). Overall, there’s several ways for people to optimize their search engine ranking. Here are some effective SEO strategies to consider.

Content-Based Approach:

To me, this is the most crucial element for success and this approach should be used in conjunction with other SEO strategies. Regardless if you own a blog, shop, or agency, you must give your visitors high-quality content capable of supporting your SEO efforts. If you don’t provide value, you’ll eventually fail because the truth remains that people like good content. When they love the content that you’re providing them, they’ll discuss it; share it; support it; and even link to it on their site, social media, etc. So make sure that you’re always creating new and unique high-quality content that’s valuable for your target audiences and I’ll guarantee that the search engines will find you!

Paid Approach:

If you have the resources, you could also opt for paid placement of your URL(s) in search engines. Instead of working your way up, you could pay search engines a fee for listing your site at the top when certain keywords are searched. Please note that the costs associated with this approach will vary depending on the search engine, ad type, etc. Do your research, including ROI calculations, to ensure that it’s worthwhile. Remember, you don’t want to use this approach if your site’s not already optimized to convert sales from the paid ads, especially since there are other free methods available.

Guest Posts & Quality   Backlinks :

Another popular SEO strategy is to guest posts at high-ranking sites and include a link back to your site. You could write guest posts for Yahoo News, Google, Huffington Post, MSN, or even write an article for your favorite blogger. Just make sure that you submit high-quality guest posts with specific keywords, tags, meta-tags, description, etc.) tailored for your specific target market(s).

Social Media Presence:

As we’re aware, social signals have a direct impact on SERPs. To leverage social media to your advantage, you must interact with a variety of social media channels. Although I’m not asking you to tweet all day long, it never hurts if you share high-quality content frequently on social media platforms to engage with people who share similar beliefs and interests.

The objective is to use social media to build a social presence to increase brand awareness for your business. For optimal results, please ensure that your URL is linked to your business name and that the marketing message is consistent across all social media channels. At minimum, your high-quality content should be configured so that people could easily share it with their social media contacts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+, etc.

Design & Mobility:

Nowadays, mobile is no longer optional. With the rapid increases in smartphone and tablet ownership, people are routinely accessing the Internet and shopping on their mobile devices. Not only must sites be efficient and responsive but also designed for optimal mobile conversions. You should always do your best to provide a great user-experience for all visitors.

Public Relations (PR):

Another option is to use PR for SEO. For instance, people could generate positive PR through volunteer work, donations, fundraisers, and even using press releases for new product launches. Some sites that could assist you with your PR needs include PRServe, PRNews, PRWire, etc. Conduct research first prior to selecting the best PR agency for your business needs based on available resources.

Hopefully this post provided you with additional insight to turn on your search engines for your business! By incorporating some of the SEO strategies listed, you’ll be on your way to increasing your traffic and search engine rankings while providing visitors with high-quality content that’s consistently new, unique, and most importantly – VALUABLE!
